what I know

My journey as a storyteller and investigative writer is deeply personal and rooted in my life's experiences. Born with cerebral palsy, I've faced numerous medical challenges, discrimination and barriers from a young age. Losing my father to murder shaped my resilience and determination, which are the foundation of my need to express myself. I began writing as a means of personal verbalization and healing, using my stories to shed light on the often-overlooked struggles of individuals. My work quickly gained recognition for its honesty, depth, and ability to evoke empathy.

Over time, my writing evolved to encompass crime victim advocacy, eldercare, disability rights, and LGBTQ+ issues. My investigative style of writing emerged from a relentless pursuit of truth and justice. I delve into each story with meticulous research, often uncovering details that others might miss. My ability to connect with people on a personal level allows me to gain insights and perspectives that enrich my narratives.

One of my most powerful techniques is incorporating firsthand accounts and personal testimonies. By including the voices of those directly affected by the issues I write about, I bring a human element to my stories that resonates with readers. Whether writing about the challenges faced by crime victims and the justice system, the intricacies of eldercare, or the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community, my work is always grounded in my real-life experiences.

My writing is characterized by its thoroughness and attention to detail. I approach each story with the tenacity of a seasoned detective, piecing together information from various sources to create a comprehensive and accurate narrative. My background in crime victim advocacy due to the loss of my father has equipped me with the skills to navigate complex legal and social systems, allowing me to uncover hidden truths and bring them to light.

In addition, I am a prolific blogger and podcaster. Through my blog and my podcast, "Shattered Lives," I reach a wide audience with my insightful commentary and in-depth interviews. These platforms allow me to explore topics in greater detail and engage with my audience in a more interactive way. My podcasts, in particular, showcase my ability to conduct compelling interviews, drawing out stories and insights from my guests that add depth to my narratives.

My narratives and investigative writing have had a profound impact on my readers and listeners. My work not only raises awareness about important issues but also inspires action and positive change. I have a gift for making complex topics accessible and relatable, helping my audience to understand and empathize with the subjects behind the stories.

I first learned about Donna R. Gore some years ago when I heard her talk about her captivating life experiences. Ms. Gore writes with an inside knowledge of law enforcement as well as from the unique viewpoint of victims/survivors and their families.

She is a sought-after speaker, author, and grief consultant, having had to deal with the loss of her dad in the prime of his life.
