PATRICA V. GORE MEMORIAL FUND

I established the Patricia V. Gore Memorial Fund in honor of my mother, who tragically passed away in Connecticut from COVID-19 on Thanksgiving Day in 2020 while residing in a long-term care facility. In collaboration with the Connecticut Long Term Ombudsman Program, this fund is a tribute to my mother's memory and her enduring spirit.

The primary aim of the fund is to address one of the critical needs within long-term care communities: transportation for advocacy, legislative, and policy events in order that persons in residential care can have a voice in the process with those who create rules and policies that impact their daily lives.

My dedication to this cause underscores my broader commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and ensures that my mother's legacy lives on through a tangible, impactful action. Through this fund, I not only honor my mother's memory but also contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for those in long-term care facilities. Any and all donations to the Patricia V. Gore Memorial Fund are managed by LTCOP and distributed through their program.

“Having access to financial support that allows individuals living in long term care settings to independently advocate for dignity and quality of life, is an amazing benefit that the residents in Connecticut have gained because of the Patricia Gore fund. We hope that others will continue to donate and help the fund grow so that we can support more residents as they advocate for change.”

CUE CENTER FOR MISSING PERSONS

I have dedicated a portion of my time to volunteering with the CUE Center for Missing Persons, an organization committed to locating missing individuals and supporting their families. My involvement with CUE has allowed me to combine my passion for advocacy with innovative action, working alongside a team of dedicated volunteers to provide resources, raise awareness, and offer support to those affected by the disappearance of a loved one. Through various initiatives, including community outreach and educational programs, I strive to make a difference in the lives of those suffering with the uncertainty and pain of having a missing family member. This volunteer work is deeply meaningful to me, reinforcing my commitment to community support, and highlighting the crucial role that innovation and new ideas plays in addressing heart-wrenching situations.

I am honored to be the recipient of the Keeper of the Flame Award, and the Susan Murphy-Milano Award for exemplary service to the organization and the families and loved ones of the missing.

Support Groups

As someone deeply committed to supporting individuals through some of life's most challenging experiences, I have created and facilitated support groups for COVID survivors, those grieving a loss, LGBTQ+ individuals, and Alzheimer's Caregivers. Each group is a safe, compassionate space where members can share their stories, receive emotional support, and find solace in the company of others who understand their struggles. Through my extensive experience and empathy, I guide these groups toward healing and empowerment, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued.

In addition to these groups, I have written detailed reference material on the benefits of attending a support group. My guide, "Why Attend a Support Group?" explores how these gatherings can provide essential emotional support, practical advice, and a sense of belonging during difficult times. It also explains how sharing experiences in a supportive environment can alleviate feelings of isolation and stress, and how learning from others' coping strategies can offer new perspectives and solutions. By attending a support group, individuals can build a network of understanding peers, enhancing their resilience and fostering a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS & EVENTS

I am deeply involved in various community projects that reflect my commitment to advocacy and support for those in need. One of the key initiatives I participated in was organizing a Road to Remember Tour event for the CUE Center for Missing Persons in Connecticut. These events focus on raising awareness and media for area missing persons, and creating a community of support to educate the public about selected missing persons cases.

In Myrtle Beach, SC I coordinated three missing persons awareness events for children to teach parents and children about safety measures and what to do in the event a child gets lost using CUE’s mascot, Jane, and the book written specifically for children.

Additionally, I attended the Myrtle Beach Police Citizens Academy to deepen my understanding of law enforcement procedures and build stronger connections with local authorities. This knowledge allows me to be a more effective advocate and liaison between the community and the police, ensuring that our collective efforts to protect and support are as effective as possible.

I am an active member of the Myrtle Beach Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association
