Surviving Loss By Homicide- The Book

In North Carolina, approximately 22.0% of all homicides with known circumstances (or 22% overall) are associated with intimate partner violence (IPV), according to the North Carolina Violent Death Reporting System for 2024 data.

Overall Rate: 22.0% of homicides with known circumstances involved intimate partner violence (190 total IPV-related deaths, including 183 homicide victims;

Firearm Involvement: Roughly 65% to 70% of domestic violence-related homicides in the state involve a firearm.

During the holidays in particular, homicide rates rise exponentially for a number of reasons.

At the same time, whether you are a new victim-survivor or have been living with the pain of such a loss for a long time, a great companion during this holiday season would be my Grief Diaries book, "Surviving Loss By Homicide." It has so much wisdom and comfort, not only from me, but from other survivors on this unwanted journey! It covers many aspects of grief and loss in a readable, practical manner.
